Trumystic BiographyTHE SOUND : Modern Dub, Reggae, Roots, Rock, Soul TMG Entertainment is thrilled to bring you the new album from TRUMYSTIC, Paradise. TRUMYSTIC has taken the foundation of their previous releaess, 2002’s Current Master, and 2004’s Dub Power, and created Paradise. Paradise is inviting, accessible, and undefinable all at the same time. From the powerful Legendary Love — originally written as a song for a collaboration with the late, great Mikey Dread, and now a touching memorial to one of reggae’s greatest legends — to the playful Fool for Your Love, a duet featuring Dave Gutter of Paranoid Social Club and the Rustic Overtones, to the in your face Bombs, a song about injustice, Paradise, like life itself, has all the emotions of human existence. Combine this visceral approach to songwriting with the production skills of the Trumystic team and their work with grammy award winner Malcolm Burn, and you really do find yourself in Paradise. TRUMYSTIC is much more than a band, practically a musical version of an elite special forces unit, with each member wielding their weapons of talent to create one of the most exciting live shows on the road today. With vocalist Kirsty Rock at the helm (as heard on Dub Side of the Moon, Radiodread, and The Lonley Hearts Dub Band), bassist and cofounder Reggie Burroughs, keyboard wizard Duane Och, Saxophonist Tony Calarco, drummer Craig Santiago, and resident sound scientist, Dept. of Dub, they deliver a ridiculously skilled and energetic musical experience. What Trumystic brings to the stage is an uplifting new sound to the reggae world — incorporating dub essentials, dancehall, hip-hop, soul music and even some genre-bending, skank-infused riddim rock.
On how they developed thier unique, genre-defying sound: In 2002 they released the sonically lush album, Current Master, on TMG Records. The band followed the release with an intensive tour across the United States, with over 100 performances in 2003 alone. Since the 2004 release of their epic double album, Dub Power they have been busy touring and recording the newest release, Paradise. It may have taken a while to complete, but isn’t Paradise worth waiting for? Don’t miss your chance to this unique band in action when they come to your town. In addition, Kirsty Rock, the lead singer for TRUMYSTIC, is the only vocalist to appear on all three of the critically acclaimed reggae re-envisionings from East Star Records: Dub Side of the Moon, Radiodread, and the Lonely Hearts Dub Band. Her performances on the records as well on stages such as the Glastonbury Music Festival have drawn praise and recognition to her vocal prowess on an international level. She has even been lauded by some of the orginal artists of those classic albums. Trumystics’ red-hot experience has gained so much appeal from the early days of the underground that they’ve now had the chance to share the stage with a broad and diverse group of artists including Mikey Dread, Jimmy Cliff, Black-Eyed Peas, the English Beat, Yellowman, Culture, Cypress Hill, Mad Professor, Jungle Brothers, Sugar Minott, Ani DiFranco and many more…
“…If you like Tricky collage of hip-hop, dub, reggae and soul but hate his drowsy grooves which leave you unable to
operate heavy machinery… Check out Trumystic, an electric stew that doesn’t skimp on the fast, meaty beats.”
“I will suggest that you forget any preconceived notions you may about reggae and dub music. Trumystic manages to transcend
simple genre classification with their vibrant, lyrically potent tunes.”
